Fire Department

The Berrien Springs/Oronoko Fire Department (BSOFD) is jointly operated by the
Village of Berrien Springs and Oronoko Charter Township. It is a volunteer
department comprised of 28 firefighters
"We, the members of the Berrien Springs - Oronoko Fire Department, dedicate our
efforts to provide for the safety and welfare of the public through preservation
of life, property, and the environment."
Twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week, the BSOFD firefighters are ready
to respond to the needs of the community. From the smallest grass fire to a large
structure fire, this department will be there. The department is also trained in:
- search and rescue
- vehicle extrication
- hazardous material awareness and operation levels
- swift water rescue
- ice rescue
- CO alarm responses
- Many firefighters are also trained as First Responders. The department
assists the Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police Department and Medic One.
