Fire Department

The Berrien Springs/Oronoko Fire Department (BSOFD) is jointly operated by the Village of Berrien Springs and Oronoko Charter Township. It is a volunteer department comprised of 28 firefighters

"We, the members of the Berrien Springs - Oronoko Fire Department, dedicate our efforts to provide for the safety and welfare of the public through preservation of life, property, and the environment."

Twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week, the BSOFD firefighters are ready to respond to the needs of the community. From the smallest grass fire to a large structure fire, this department will be there. The department is also trained in:

search and rescue
vehicle extrication
hazardous material awareness and operation levels
swift water rescue
ice rescue
CO alarm responses
Many firefighters are also trained as First Responders. The department assists the Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police Department and Medic One.
