Fire Department

The Berrien Springs/Oronoko Fire Department (BSOFD) is jointly operated by the Village of Berrien Springs and Oronoko Charter Township. It is a volunteer department comprised of 24 firefighters.
 
The Mission Statement
"We, the members of the Berrien Springs - Oronoko Fire Department, dedicate our efforts to provide for the safety and welfare of the public through preservation of life, property, and the environment."
 
Twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week, the BSOFD firefighters are ready to respond to the needs of the community. From the smallest grass fire to a large structure fire, this department will be there. The department is also trained in:
 
  • search and rescue
  • vehicle extrication
  • hazardous material awareness and operation levels
  • swift water rescue
  • ice rescue
  • CO alarm responses
  • Many firefighters are also trained as First Responders. The department assists the Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police Department and Medic One.
