The March Board of Review is charged with reviewing the assessment roll prepared by the assessor as well as hearing and deciding appeals (protests) of property owners. Property owners may appeal four items at the March Board of Review– the assessed value, tentative taxable value, classification, and qualified agricultural exemption. Hardship (poverty) Exemptions and Real Property Tax Exemption requests are also heard by the March Board of Review. March Board of Review is the only time of year that assessments can be appealed.

The July and December Boards of Review have authority over clerical errors, mutual mistakes of fact, qualified agricultural exemption corrections as well as Hardship Exemption requests.

The State Tax Commission has put together a publication that answers many questions taxpayers may have regarding Board of Review meetings which can be found here.
