The Berrien Springs - Oronoko Fire Department (BSOFD) is jointly operated by the Village of Berrien Springs and Oronoko Charter Township. It was established in 1885, and currently operates under the supervision of a joint fireboard consisting of representation from the Village of Berrien Springs, the Township of Oronoko, and a member at large. It is a volunteer department comprised of 25 firefighters and 1 full time Chief.
The Mission Statement
"We, the members of the Berrien Springs - Oronoko Fire Department, dedicate our efforts to provide for the safety and welfare of the public through preservation of life, property, and the environment."Twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week, the BSOFD firefighters are ready to respond to the needs of the community. From the smallest grass fire to a large structure fire, this department will be there. The department is also trained in:
