The Berrien Springs - Oronoko Fire Department (BSOFD) is jointly operated by the Village of Berrien Springs and Oronoko Charter Township. It is a volunteer department comprised of 28 firefighters
The Mission Statement
"We, the members of the Berrien Springs - Oronoko Fire Department, dedicate our efforts to provide for the safety and welfare of the public through preservation of life, property, and the environment."
Twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week, the BSOFD firefighters are ready to respond to the needs of the community. From the smallest grass fire to a large structure fire, this department will be there. The department is also trained in:
- search and rescue
- vehicle extrication
- hazardous material awareness and operation levels
- swift water rescue
- ice rescue
- CO alarm responses
- Many firefighters are also trained as First Responders. The department assists the Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police Department and Medic One.

Willing to give back to the Community. Willing to protect your neighbor and be there when they need help. Willing to do something most people can not do. The Berrien Springs - Oronoko Fire Department is accepting applications for membership. Applications are available at the Oronoko Township Hall, Oronoko Public Safety Building, the Berrien Springs Village Hall or from Chief Myers at 473-3731.
